WPT Enterprises Inc. a Promising Betting Stock

It may not be the hottest stock on the market, yet WPT Enterprises Inc., which is on NASDAQ,  has been growing steady since its relatively new beginning.  Financial figures for the most recent quarter ending at the end of June were released by WPT - and were not anything to be ashamed of.  Compared to last year, in which the total revenue was $4.7 million, the income increased 40% for the second quarter this year.  And although there was a net loss of close to $1 million this last quarter in 2005 (creating a $.02 loss per diluted share), the growth of the company is in rapid motion.

Potential investors need to understand that a relatively new and rapidly expanding company will have initial startup costs, which can keep a company in the red for an indefinite period of time.  WPT Enterprises, which has the highly popular World Poker Tour tapped, is not dealing with hardly any competition, and should only be concerned with the support of major television networks.  And so long as the public is tuning in - riding the poker craze - WPT Enterprises has nowhere to go but up.  This last season, the tour was broadcasted to over one-hundred regions across the world.

Speaking of television, domestic distribution in the U.S. has been a major factor in this years revenue decline.  More episodes were delivered to networks last year than in 2005; However, the funds only differentiated by $.1 million, which was offset by an increase in both product licensing revenues and international television distribution.  And considering the profit made last year by WPT, the company is not in debt.

Part of the expansion costs this year went largely towards the development of the Professional Poker Tour, as well as their new online gaming site, World Poker Tour Online, which are expected to begin generating substantial revenue the first quarter of 2006.
