The Palms Hotel in Las Vegas will be the site
of the very first betting poker tournament hosted by Full Tilt Poker.
Aptly called the Full Tilt Poker Global Poker Challenge, it will all go down
on December 15, and will will attract some of the best poker players in the
betting industry.
The buy-in for a seat is $5,000, which will
combine to create a jackpot of $500,000. There are 100 available
seats, 10 of which will be awarded through online betting satellite
tournaments. Although this particular tournament will be the first of
its kind, Full Tilt is no stranger to hosting high-stakes poker games.
The online poker room recently hosted a televised tournament in Monte Carlo,
where poker star Phil Ivey won the final table.
Bringing up the helm of the Global Poker
Challenge will be another online betting site, Matchroom Casino, who,
incidentally, is making a big name for itself. As for Full Tilt, they
are not holding anything back for this high profile tournament that already
has the potential of becoming an annual event.
Much emphasis is being put on televising the
Global Poker Challenge, largely because more and more fans are tuning in.
Televised poker tournaments are almost becoming as popular as online betting
itself, which Full Tilt knows all to well, and stands to benefit from,
considering their two-fold position.
