Betting at the Lottery Turns
into American Dream
It goes to show that luck, or perhaps good
Karma, are always present in any form of wagering, whether it be casino
gambling, Casino betting, neighborhood poker matches or online betting at
internet casinos. Luck and good Karma were definitely present for
Moses Bittok, who won an Ohio Lottery jackpot of nearly $2 million just
hours after taking his oath of citizenship in the United States.
Bittok had bought the ticket the evening
before, and immediately after becoming a U.S. citizen at the federal
building in Des Moines, took his family to do some shopping. Bittok
then realized he had the lottery ticket, and so stopped at a nearby gas
station to check and see if it was a winner. After hearing the news,
Bittok said that he remained collected while his wife lost it and screamed
aloud.
The Bittok's opted to take the jackpot in 25
annual payments, which many players choose not to do in order to take a
single sum payment. The tax break on taking annual payments is much
more conducive than the one time payment - in this case, leaving the
Bittok's with a check of nearly $53,000 per year after taxes. Moses
Bittok stated the first priority is to save for their four-year-old daughter
Mindy's college fund.
The story is truly an American one, which
Bittok said himself when he made the comment the this type of thing does not
happen anywhere in the world except in America. Bittok first came to
the U.S. to go to college in Minnesota, after which, he moved to settle down
in Iowa, where he has been working at the Iowa Correctional Institute for
Women ever since. It is probable that Bittok will keep working, having
taken the annual payment option on the lottery jackpot. Whether Bittok
continues betting at the lottery or not, one thing is certain - He does not
have to work near as much as he did in the past.
